GROUP PRESENTATION
We were put into groups of 3 and were asked to do a presentation on Typography. We each wanted to look at a certain area of typography I chose to research on letterpress because I think it is beautifully detailed and I love the result. It can take any design and make it look completely new. I also found it quite interesting as to how back in the days it was the only way to print now it is known as art.

Letterpress is known to be a kind of ‘relief painting’. It was invented by Johannes Gutenberg in the mid 15th century. It involves stamping an inked paint with letters or pictures onto paper. Each letterpress is handmade which will result in every piece being slightly different.
Letterpress is unique and what makes it special is that it is done by hand using letterpress machines that are no longer in production; it also demands skills and practice. People tend to like the tactile nature of it. Hand written books those days were works of art however, they were very time consuming and expensive. Now that we have letterpress printing can now be done at anytime anyplace.
Nowadays, we are used to our highly advanced printers which have become very common and cheap. Back in the day indentations was seen to be very poor quality however now it is seen to be very good quality.
On the right is a link displaying 10 of the top typefaces and 5 of the worst typefaces which I found quite interesting.
On the left is a website I added which I found very interesting. I love the fact you can make typography so detailed and beautiful and this website does just that. They use paper to make letters which I find very creative.
